These new LED lights have a significantly brighter output and longer bulb life than traditional filament bulbs. For easy installation, the lights have an integrated CANBUS system that prevents a “bulb out” warning or hyper flashing when replaced in vehicles with a smart monitoring system. The replacement bulbs may also fit some interior light applications and produce truer color temperatures than filament bulbs. Holly Hill, FL - May 2017 – Metra’s popular aftermarket lighting accessories brand, Heise, has upgraded their replacement headlight kit product line to include many improved features. This product line is designed to replace weaker factory headlights with brighter, low current consuming LED bulbs.

Heise offers 20 different models to meet the demands of the most popular vehicle headlight sizes. New improvements to these high quality headlight kits make them brighter and even easier to install, in addition to offering more benefits to the installer and consumer. The new LED headlight kits now offer even brighter light bulbs, increasing from 22 watts per bulb to 25 watts, and increasing the lumens from 4400 to 6000. The chipset has also been upgraded to use the 2nd Generation Phillips ZES chipset.

Product improvements benefiting the installer include a new, more compact radial heatsink that requires less depth of space, making it easier to install in tight spots. External components that previously required the installer to find a place to put a “ballast” have also been redesigned. That “ballast” that housed the voltage and current monitoring circuits are now inside the compact radial heatsink housing and protected from the elements. This new design change makes installation cleaner and easier.

Also included in the new improvements is the ability to change the standard 6500K light bulb color to 3000K or 8000K with included films. This feature is available on sixteen headlight kit models, and allows installers and distributors to offer three different color choices in one kit for their customer, while carrying fewer product SKUs in their inventory. Fourteen of the new models also offer the ability to rotate the bulb to adjust the beam pattern for the vehicle. Additionally, sixteen of the new models now offer a IP67 rating that makes them even more water resistant, with the other four models having a water resistant rating of IP65.

Attendees will learn about iBEAM’s latest vehicle cameras, dashboard cameras with DVRs, replacement rearview mirrors, vehicle-specific solutions and commercial safety line. They’ll also learn about the hot-button selling points and features that consumers and fleet owners are asking for, plus installation tips for a better understanding of what is involved in an upgrade. Attendees will also have the chance to win product giveaways from iBEAM.

Heise will also be hosting two training sessions, “Selling and Installing Heise LED Lighting Solutions,” on Friday, August 9th at 1:45 pm and Sunday, August 11th at 4:45 pm. The recent popularity in aftermarket LED lighting presents a valuable opportunity for installers to go beyond car audio services, giving consumers a way to customize their ride and increase visibility in the dark. However, not all LED lights on the market are the same. This session will allow installers to learn about Heise’s unique features and selling points that have set this brand apart from the rest. This training will cover the new DRL lightbars, replacement LED headlights, RGB backlit lightbars, RGB accent lights and the new Municipality Series of safety lights for commercial equipment and fleet vehicles. Attendees will also have the chance to win product giveaways from Heise.

Axxess will be hosting two different training sessions. The first session, “Simplify your Installs with Axxess Digital Sound Processors,” will cover the entire Axxess AX-DSP product line and how these solutions can increase sales in the showroom and decrease time in the bay. The session will be hosted on Friday, August 9th at 3:00 pm. This session will show installers that upgrading a sound system doesn’t have to be complicated. This training will also go over and explain how to use the different types of applications offered within the AX-DSP line, including CAN-based systems, new A2B systems, MOST25, and MOST50 vehicle technology. As vehicle technology becomes more and more complex, installers can look for Metra’s patented DSP products to help simplify installation and provide affordable audio solutions for their customers.

The second Axxess training session on Saturday, August 10th at 6:00 pm, “The Future of Vehicles Integration with New Axxess Products,” explains that integration is the future of the aftermarket 12 volt industry - and it’s only getting more complex. With the reduction in OE radio chassis sizes, the rising popularity of tablet-style screens, and many of the personalization features controlled through the OE radio, it is difficult for shops to offer simple aftermarket solutions. Attendees will learn about new products from Axxess that have been engineered specifically to address the complexity of today’s integrated vehicle technology systems and retain key convenience and safety features when upgrading a radio. For consumers who want to keep their radio but add safety, navigation, smart device mirroring, or simply override the annoying STOP/START engine feature, installers can learn about these new products from Axxess that will make their customer’s ride much more enjoyable. Attendees will have the chance to win product giveaways from Axxess.

Metra’s customers can register for KnowledgeFest at no cost using Metra’s VIP code, available by request from their sales representative. Once registered for the event, attendees will also need to register online at KnowledgeFest.org for each training session they will attend. Metra will be at booth #601 from August 9-11, 2019 at the Dallas Convention Center. Additional information about the show, produced by the Mobile Electronics Association (MEA), is available at KnowledgeFest.org

Vehicle Safety and Connection Accessories from iBEAM

Reducing blindspots in large trailers or commercial vehicles is a growing priority for drivers. iBEAM has several commercial wireless monitors and cameras designed for larger vehicles where running wires isn't possible or easy. iBEAM also has several heavy-duty cameras with night vision designed specifically for larger commercial vehicles. These existing solutions are included in the new trailer line and new camera connection accessories will be introduced at SEMA.

To allow drivers to quickly power, connect and disconnect the cameras when hooking or unhooking from trailers and other electrical devices, Metra is featuring a new quick disconnect cable and pair of brackets from iBEAM. The new TE-TCEX-1 is a quick disconnect cable with water-resistant seals that has 32 feet of cable to run through the truck to the monitor with a maximum of 10 additional feet of extendable coil at the hitch. The new TE-TRBRKT is a pair of trailer quick disconnect brackets. They are made of heavy-duty metal and have an open slot on the mounting bracket for the disconnects that makes running the cable much easier. These products work together to make connecting and disconnecting the camera from the trailer easier and safer for everyone involved.

Trailer Wiring and Installation Accessories from The Install Bay

New trailer wiring will include a variety of options for installers to provide everything needed for integrating electrical aftermarket parts. New products include, all copper hook-up wire, trailer connectors (with copper internals), all copper trailer wiring plugs (for basic hook-up of the 3 lighting functions), all copper trailer harness (for custom harness applications), all copper trailer wire (for RVs, boats and utility trailers), copper and all copper jacketed primary wire (for auto/truck/construction and light marine), and finally bulk trailer wire colors (for electrical usage in fleet vehicles).

Additional accessories range from connectors, terminals, cables and tubing, to hardware kits and tools. Holly Hill, Fla. – February 16, 2021 – Metra Electronics®, the leading manufacturer of aftermarket automotive solutions, is now shipping new Pro Series LED replacement headlight bulbs from Heise LED Lighting Systems®. The Pro Series features five different bulbs that cover every application of HID currently available on the market, plus seventeen single-beam and four dual-beam lightbulb sizes. Matched with a brand new extreme LED chipset, these bulbs not only outlast but will outperform HID bulbs.

Heise has meticulously designed the bulbs to optimize the LED position in order to maximize the headlight housing optics for both projector and reflector systems. The result is a 16,000 lumens solution that is 260% brighter than other LEDs, using only 70 watts per set with a running temperature of only 115 degrees F. By running much cooler than traditional LED bulbs, the Pro Series has an increased lifespan compared to others on the market. “The majority of failures with LED replacement bulbs come from not wicking the heat away from the LED chip. The faster a bulb can get the heat away from the LED chips, the longer the lifespan will be. In our new design, the copper substrate is very efficient at moving heat down through the heatsink and then to the fan away from the chip,” says Jason Anderson, VP of Product Research and Development for Metra Electronics 12volt brands. “When compared to two popular fanless LED bulbs on the market that are less than half the brightness of the Heise Pro Series, their internal running temperatures were significantly higher, at 160 and 170 degrees F,” says Anderson. “Heise’s new LED bulbs are much brighter, run cooler, and will last longer,” he added.

Heise’s Pro Series bulbs feature a 2mm solid copper thermodynamic core, all-metal construction for the build material, a rotatable collar for beam pattern adjustment, instantaneous full lumen start-up, an IC thermal controller with a high-speed smart fan, built-in reverse polarity protection, and a side-cable connection for slimmer installation. A built-in EMI filter prevents the bulbs from affecting the vehicle’s radio reception and they will work with Heise’s existing CANBUS decoders, which, depending on the vehicle, may be required to stop the flashing of headlights or the “lamp out” message in the instrument cluster (sold separately). Due to their intense brightness, these bulbs are for off-road use only and not for use on public roads.

HID to LED Conversion:
At the base of the HID to LED conversion bulbs, there is a “C” designation in reference to the unique collar design that allows the bulb to be properly keyed into projector “S” housings and reflector “R” housings. The bulbs accept a 12-24V DC and are connected to the input connection of the factory ballast.
