Another Record-Setting KnowledgeFest® Dallas

Year-Over-Year Growth Continues for Each Event

NORTH ANDOVER, MASS. – August 30, 2017 – The Mobile Electronics Association (MEA) announced today final figures for its recently completed KnowledgeFest education conference and trade show in Dallas. The event was another record-setter for MEA with year-over-year growth for each event. KnowledgeFest Dallas 2017 had more than 1,300 attendees, 55 exhibitors occupying more than 60,000 square feet of exhibit space, 40 hours of educational workshops and 60 hours of vendor training and finishing with a celebration of our industry’s accomplishments at the annual Mobile Electronics Industry Awards.

To accommodate the event’s growth, KnowledgeFest Dallas moved to a bigger venue, the Dallas Convention Center and Omni Dallas Hotel. Additionally, growth of new product categories such as driver assistance and safety products were well represented and offered installing dealer’s new revenue opportunities. New tech companies are finding the KnowledgeFest show floor and available training time an affordable way to bring their products to market with the mobile electronics specialist. New for this year’s event was the “Accelerate your Business” keynote, business owners’ night school and manufacturer tours and training on the exhibit floor.

“We are demonstrating to our attendees and exhibitors that KnowledgeFest is dedicated to the mobile electronics specialist, the installing dealer. For MEA, it’s a niche market comprised of not only veterans and survivors, but new businesses being created by young entrepreneurs,” remarked Chris Cook, president of MEA. “The educational programming and vendor training unique to KnowledgeFest adds value to the attendees’ and exhibitors’ experiences.”

KnowledgeFest is growing. For 2018, MEA announced a third KnowledgeFest at the Long Beach Convention Center. The west coast and especially southern California has historically been a strong market for mobile electronics; and, many vendors’ US headquarters are in Southern California. Interest from vendors looking to make a strong statement to dealers in this market is high. Advance space selection for Long Beach is strong and MEA anticipates having to expand exhibit space.

For more information on the most recent event in Dallas, go to www.KFest.me to review the education and manufacturer training descriptions, pictures from the event and information about the exhibitors.

MEA brings the KnowledgeFest education conference and trade show experience to three regional locations: Indianapolis in the east, Dallas central, and new-for-2018 Long Beach on the west coast.

2018 KnowledgeFest Dates:

  • Long Beach Convention Center, Long Beach, California, February 23-25, 2018
  • Indiana Convention Center, Indianapolis, Indiana, March 16-18, 2018
  • Dallas Convention Center, Dallas, Texas, August 17-19, 2018

4-23-2018 Mobile Electronics -- Getting dealers out of their shops and easing installers out of their old habits is the calling card of Mobile Solutions which offers support, motivation, and inspiration to all

Being on top of your game today, whether you’re a dealer, manufacturer, or installer, requires a readiness to accept the old, manage the present, and prepare for the future.

Many folks—and everyone is guilty of it at some point --get stuck in a rut and just rely on doing things the same old way they have always been done. But eventually people want to make a change—and that is how Bryan Schmitt, president and lead trainer of Tempe, Ariz.-based Mobile Solutions, makes his living. He gets individuals to leave their offices, shops, and install bays to figure out how to do things smarter.

Through his educational company Schmitt has created tools and training sessions—signature four-day boot camps—so that his students—who are technicians, fabricators, and retailers-- can leave with a level of professionalism and sense of pride they may not have had before.

While Mobile Solutions offers a range of... Read the rest of the story HERE.

Theme for annual show and conference in Dallas focuses on keeping up with advancing technology, consumer patterns.

NORTH ANDOVER, MASS., June 27, 2016 (MEDIAWIRE) — The Mobile Electronics Association® (MEA) announced the theme for its 2016 KnowledgeFest® trade show and conference, scheduled for August 20-22, 2016 at the Hilton Anatole Resort & Convention Center in Dallas. "SHIFT" will be depicted on all show signs and artwork, signifying a call for industry professionals to take their expertise, drive and professionalism to a higher level.

The KnowledgeFest theme is chosen annually by MEA staff after carefully evaluating changing trends that directly affect the mobile electronics community. This year, the focus has been on evolving safety and driver assistance products and technologies.

"Carmakers are using significant advertising budget to promote safety features on new vehicles, and almost all of the available OEM options have aftermarket counterparts," said Chris Cook, MEA president. "Retailers can take advantage of a new profit center in which consumer value has been stoked high by OEM messaging."

The media is also heavily covering autonomous vehicle technology and how cars will make decisions based on input from vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) and vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) networks. The potential changes to the driving experience hold future opportunity for retailers and installation technicians.

Celebrating its 20th year, KnowledgeFest will employ its own shift as well. The educational component of the conference will undergo a change from individual classes to three-class courses. Each course is intended to enhance the educational experience with graduated lessons from class to class, as well as a broader view of how the chosen curriculum works within the store structure.  Attendees who complete each course will receive wall certificates marking their achievement.

The "SHIFT" theme is visualized by a classic car gear shifter that also includes a button, presumably to employ nitrous oxide, which propels a vehicle faster by increasing the amount of oxygen available for combustion.

“The shifter and its nitrous button are the perfect representation of how we need to keep up with opportunities that come from evolution in the vehicle space," concluded Cook. "Shifting gives us more headroom to be able to react to changing market conditions. Then we hit the button and put all of our resources into overdrive."

Registration for KnowledgeFest 2016 is currently open, and attendees will be able to select and reserve space in education courses in the coming weeks. For more information, please visit knowledgefest.org.

LONG BEACH, CALIF. – June 19, 2018 – Mobile Electronics magazine today announced the Top 50 Retailers and the Top 50 Installers, as well as the new list of Top 20 Sales Professionals. The Top 50 awards and the new Top 20 award are the first component of the magazine’s annual Industry Awards competition. Recipients of this award have the honor of being considered the premier mobile electronics retail outlets, installation technicians and sales experts in the U.S. and Canada, according to the magazine.

“This was a tough, exciting competition,” said Solomon Daniels, editor-in chief of Mobile Electronics and awards administrator. “Unfortunately, we had to narrow 85 installer nominees to 50, and it was a grueling task. That said, most of the nomination videos were high-quality efforts, reminiscent of the work that our industry specialists put into their stores and customers’ vehicles every day. Even more exciting is the first iteration of the Top 20 Sales Professionals, recognizing individuals who work just as hard at perfecting their craft as technicians and fabricators do.  I’m very proud to announce these awards and present certificates to the winners.”

The nomination videos were judged by Daniels as well as guest judge Eric Carter, a former retailer and Industry Awards recipient.

In addition to these awards, winners are eligible to compete for the next phase of the Industry Awards, which through industry voting narrows the list to 12 retail and installation finalists, and five sales finalists. The “Top 12″ and “Top 5” would then submit judging materials to be considered for Retailer of the Year, Sales Professional of the Year and Installer of the Year. These final awards will be announced at the Mobile Electronics Industry Awards celebration during the KnowledgeFest trade show and conference in Dallas, August 17-19. By Chris Cook

We’ve gathered the best available education, supplier displays and much more. What you do with it is up to you.

I just finished reviewing some of the responses from the magazine’s latest industry survey, which focuses on KnowledgeFest. It asks questions about the main benefits of the show for attendees as well as how respondents rate KnowledgeFest against other events in terms of value to their business. But there was one response that did not show up in the Stats section on page 10. Those who responded “Not sure yet” on whether they were attending KnowledgeFest were asked what the most important factor was in determining whether they would go or not.

More than “Cost” or “In-store obligations,” the overwhelming answer was “Value of the Event.”

That’s good and bad—bad because it means we can do a better job of communicating the value of KnowledgeFest. But good because it shows that retailers are thinking about things the right way. Businesses are prioritizing long-term success over short-term profitability.

So, for those of you on the fence, I’ll make the case for attending KnowledgeFest now.

Show and Tell: There is a lot to see and hear on the exhibit floor. The best suppliers in our industry bring their A-Game to KnowledgeFest. They exhibit with the hope they will make a positive impact on your business and on their own.

Learning the Products: The Dallas KnowledgeFest will deliver over 70 hours of high-quality education directly from your favorite suppliers. This is an opportunity like no other. A place to learn what you need to know about every technology our industry has to offer.

Back to School: Gaining valuable insight for your business is a must to survive. KnowledgeFest delivers the education you need to thrive in an ever-changing industry.

Meet and Greet: No more phone calls, texts and Facebook. Your next conversation will be face-to-face with both old friends and new.

Celebrating Success: And then there’s the industry awards. An evening that will become a wonderful memory for many as we honor those in our industry. The Mobile Electronics Industry Awards will recognize those who have excelled above the rest.

We’ve assembled the best group of vendors, instructors and industry professionals to provide you the opportunity to excel in your business or career. But the one component that will guarantee you get the most from KnowledgeFest is … you. If you come to Dallas with the idea of hanging out with friends, taking in a few free vendor dinners, sleeping late and attending only the popular fabrication or OEM integration classes, the show is going to be a waste for you. But if you want to maximize your ROI on away-from-the-shop time by heading home with knowledge to immediately impact sales, here are the steps:

Have a plan before your plane takes off or before you shop for road trip snacks. Look through the class schedule and make reservations for each so you can print out an itinerary. This is important: Don’t pick the classes that are popular just because everybody else is doing it. Think about the knowledge you need for your business and select the courses that fill those needs.

Plan your exhibit floor time in sections over three days. You can only take in so much information before your eyes—and brain—glaze over. Look at the show floor and plan to cover it in segments with one section per day. Then, spend real time with the vendors to understand their product lines. Each of them has spent good money so they can be here to spend that time with you, so take advantage. But after you’ve completed the section, take a mental break.

See your vendors, then see more vendors. On the show floor, keep an open mind and see all of the vendors there. You never know what product you’ll need down the line, even if you don’t have the need right now. The same goes for vendor trainings: see your vendors, then pick three or four trainings on new companies.

Don’t skip the networking time. Keynotes, town hall meetings and casual get-together sections are great opportunities to meet like-minded professionals who may have answers to problems you’re experiencing. Or, your experience might help them thorough a complicated situation. Plus, it’s nice to develop contacts you can call throughout the year to get and give advice.

I make no additional money by telling you that KnowledgeFest is an absolute must for any industry professional. If I were still doing retail, it would be the one event series that would be marked on my calendar, mainly because of the collection of talent, knowledge and opportunity gathered in one place. So come to Dallas with a mission. You’ll leave with hope, purpose and opportunity.

Oklahoma City, Okla., August 8, 2018 -- DD Audio will round out this years MEA events by attending KnowledgeFest Dallas, August 17th-19th. KnowledgeFest is much more than a simple industry meet and greet. It’s an opportunity for manufacturers, shop-owners, installers and everyone in-between to exchange ideas. The mobile audio industry requires knowledge in the ever advancing technologies, installation trends, and current business tactics. KFest brings everyone together with the solitary focus of continuing their education in these areas and more. This is a point of passion for DD Audio and is why they continue to partner with MEA at the Diamond Level after being involved with the event for several years.

DD Audio can be found displaying at booth #111 where they will be showcasing a 2008 Harley Electra Glide Classic outfitted with a monster 16 speaker DD Audio system that includes a couple of their newest offerings, the D4.75 mini amp and the DSI-2 DSP.

DD will also be hosting two educational training seminars for current and future dealers. The first class, “The Brick and Mortar Brand” (Friday, August 17th, 3:00pm - 4:00pm), will focus on DD Audio equipment and the importance of brand exclusivity as a sales tool. The second class “Anatomy of a Subwoofer” (Saturday, August 18th, 6:00pm - 7:00pm), is a fun and well reviewed course that offers hands on, expert guided subwoofer design knowledge and build training.

The team representing DD Audio at K-Fest Dallas 2018 is looking forward to the fellowship that is always present at these events. Attendees are encouraged to visit them at the booth, partake in a DD training or just stop them wherever they can be found as they always welcome questions, ideas, and feedback.

Oklahoma City, OK, April 3, 2016 -- DD Audio, fresh off the SBN event in Daytona, will now set their course for the 2nd annual KnowledgeFest Spring Training in Indianapolis, Ind. (April 8-10). DD will be located at booth #230.

The DD Work Van will be on display showcasing its dual system demo that can go from a panel flexing bass system to an audiophile pleasing sound quality system with the push of a DSI-1 processor button. Customers will also be able to speak with members of the sales and tech teams while getting up close and personal with the baddest DD products out on the market.

During K-Fest, DD will be hosting a technical trainings focused on their DSI signal processor and its USA-made subwoofer lines on Friday the 8th, from 5:15-6:15 PM (training room 105) and Saturday 4:30-5:30 PM (training room 108). Aaron Trimble, National Product Trainer, will provide an in depth look at why and how to use these products to get the best performance possible out of your mobile audio system.

In addition to attending the show, the DD Audio team will once again be taking advantage of the drive to and from the event. They’ll be leaving out of OKC on April 5th and returning the 14th; giving them plenty of time to visit current and potential dealers along the way. So, if you’re not able to attend KnowledgeFest Indy 2016, watch the DD Audio social media feeds for the team’s whereabouts, and the possibility of getting some swag for being in the right place at the right time.

What’s Happening December 2018

With an increased media presence, a bigger exhibit hall and education sessions added in Spanish or with translators, the second year of KnowledgeFest Long Beach is projected to be even more successful—with the goal of making it an international event.

Words by Rosa Sophia

The first KnowledgeFest Long Beach took place in 2018, attracting over 1,100 attendees, and the second is scheduled for February 23 to 25, 2019. It is anticipated to have roughly the same amount of manufacturer trainings—60 hours—along with 30 to 40 hours of educational sessions.

Chris Cook, president of the Mobile Electronics Association, stated that he anticipates a significant growth in retailer attendance along with more interaction in education sessions. “Our first year was great, and our second year should be even better,” he said. Because more exhibitors are expected, the conference will be taking place in a much larger hall.

“We sold out the space last year,” Cook said, adding that it made sense to choose a larger hall in the Long Beach Convention Center for the 2019 event. “The hall we’re moving into is about 65 percent larger than the hall we used last year,” he noted.

With the completion of the first event came lessons learned, which will be applied to the second Long Beach conference. Also expected is an increased... Read the rest of the story HERE.
