Vista Calif. - Directed Audio's evolution continues with the introduction of this all-new design. Not just another clone these subs were hand-tuned by Dr. Dave Hatcher to satisfy the needs of audiophiles SPL warriors and everyday car audio enthusiasts. CompX subwoofers stand out from the pack in performance power and personality with huge 20 pound magnets* that drive them to new heights of accuracy and more low frequency output than ever. The big drivers come with incredibly small box requirements:10 0.33 to 0.45 cu. ft. (including speaker displacement) 12 0.44 to 0.62 cu. ft. (including speaker displacement) 15 1.0 to 1.4 cu. ft. (including speaker displacement) Use our recommended sealed box sizes and Tri-Power rating system for simple foolproof world-class bass: the small boxes and SPL power ratings work perfectly for hard-core dB fanatics the larger enclosures and RMS ratings are just right for sound quality aficionados. Split the difference on both for all-round performance in your daily driver. Tri-Power lets you calibrate how you want your woofers to sound (and how much abuse you want them to suffer!) using this simple chart:10 100 - 300 W RMS (SQ) 300 - 500 W RMS for SQ/ SPL 500 - 800 W RMS pure SPL 12 150 - 400 W RMS (SQ) 400 - 650 W RMS for SQ/SPL 650 - 1000 W RMS pure SPL 15 200 - 500 W RMS (SQ) 500 - 800 W RMS for SQ/SPL 800 - 1200 W RMS pure SPL (voice coil 100% in the gap) (voice coil 50% in gap on peaks) (voice coil out of gap 100%) CompX woofers offer extended low frequency response with relatively high efficiency which is very rare especially in small boxes. Using even the minimum rated power will generate surprisingly high levels of sub-50 Hz output. Typical in-car response is 3 dB down at 15 to 20 Hz. CompX woofers feature ultra long excursion for better frequency response and increased low frequency SPL: in-gap 100 percent accurate controlled travel of one inch or more and maximum SPL cone excursion of two inches! Dual spiders and a heavy laminated polyether foam surround maintain accurate cone centering at extreme excursion limits. CompX woofers have a chromed one piece extended vented pole piece and back plate assembly for accuracy and cooling (plus the chicks dig it!). A 2.5 diameter epoxy resin-coated kapton voice coil former is used for added motor strength and very high temperature operation. The 12 and 15 inch models use 8 layer voice coils for huge power handling. Nickel-plated spring-loaded speaker terminals easily accommodate heavy gauge wire for minimum power loss.
